iOS 4GM provides software that includes the SDK a developer GameKit APIs that allows you to create applications that will work with Game Center, the new Apple gaming social network. Users can invite friends to play games, launch multiplayer games through matchmaking, track their performance, and compare their high scores on the score board. API available for you now and Game Center will be available for iPhone and iPod touch users at the end of this year.
Apple will increase their focus on the gamers with a new social networking game for iPhone and iPod Touch from fellow game consoles. Apple will introduce “Game Center,” the social network game that includes an automatic matchmaking, achievements, leaderboards and other features.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs said that the Game Center will not necessarily replace the other independently-created social platforms like OpenFeint. Forstall- (Apple’s SVP of iPhone software) did not reveal an exact release date for Game Center. He just said there will be a “preview” in OS4 will be available on the iPhone and iPod Touch in this summer. Game Center is provided for all devices. Forstall said that there are more than 50,000 game and entertainment in the App Store today.
